NSCSW members, employers of social workers, or social work educators can book an Ethical Consultation to receive guidance on professional ethical dilemmas in alignment with NSCSW’s Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice.

How to request an Ethical Consultation
Step 1: Eligibility
Ethical consultations are available to:
- Registered social workers and candidates in Nova Scotia
- Social work supervisors or employers of NS social workers
- Educators supporting social work students of NS social work students
Step 2: Submit a request
To request a consultation, send an email to [email protected] with the following information:
- Name
- Contact information
- Eligibility information (i.e. member, employer, or educator)
- A brief, non-identifying description of the ethical concern
Step 3: Scheduling & process
Once your request is received, an NSCSW representative will contact you within two business days to schedule a consultation.
Consultations are typically conducted via phone or video call. If you require accommodation, please let us know.

- Guidance is provided based on the information shared and does not replace legal advice or employer policy guidance.
- If an ethical issue involves a potential professional misconduct complaint, members may receive guidance on ethical responsibilities without interfering in regulatory investigations.
