The College’s Social Justice Committee acts as the eyes and ears of all that is unfair to people who are on the receiving end of policies, programs, and practices that prohibit them from being fully engaged in their self-determination. This committee also:
- Critically explores understanding and application of social justice.
- Builds the capacity of community-based organizations working towards achieving socio-economic justice.
- Develops partnerships with various stakeholders (specifically the private sector) to achieve socio-economic justice.
- Develops a framework with practical steps to help social workers integrate social work as a central element of their practice
This committee helps the profession to be seen as a critical partner in the promotion of social justice for all in Nova Scotia.
