Participants in this April 27 training will develop their knowledge about trauma informed practice, how it can be applied to social work settings, and how social workers can mitigate the effects of working in trauma exposed environments.
The purpose of the workshop is to build trauma awareness by reviewing common definitions, types, and impacts of trauma as well as exploring research. The workshop will explore the key principles of trauma informed care and how they can be applied to generalist social work settings. The sessions will also review how social workers are impacted by trauma and how to mitigate the effects of working in trauma exposed environments.
Avalon Centre’s Sexualized Violence and Healing Centered Support training will include an element of networking and encourage active sharing of knowledge and resources between participants, with the goal of building more connected communities of service providers and streamlined supports for survivors of gender-based violence.
