Aug 14, 2026 — In June 2022, the Nova Scotia College of Social Workers (NSCSW) received letters of complaint regarding the conduct of registrant Philip Patey, of Halifax Nova Scotia, registration #2335. NSCSW imposed interim restrictions on Mr. Patey’s registration during the investigation, and later suspended it as the result of a discipline hearing held on February 9, 2026.

Feb 25, 2025 — The Executive Council of the Nova Scotia College of Social Workers (NSCSW) is deeply disappointed by the government’s decision to repeal the Social Workers Act without prior notice or consultation.

Feb 24, 2026 — NSCSW is pleased to see the funding announcement for a new provincial child and youth advocate, but is calling for urgent action to ensure the new office is swiftly established and adequately resourced to address the growing needs of vulnerable children and families across the province created by this budget. 

Jan 26, 2026 — The NSCSW revoked the registration of Sherri Boyd (aka Sherri Lynn Boyd & Sherri Lynn Ascroft Boyd) following a hearing held on October 27, 2025.

Sep 25, 2025 — The NSCSW has officially launched its new 2026 Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice, a foundational document designed to advance reconciliation, reparations, uphold justice, and ensure the safe and ethical delivery of social work services across the province.
