Sep 24, 2026 — We’ve updated our fee schedule to include information for the 2027/28 registration year.

Sep 10, 2026 — CASW & NASWC have partnered to create a biennial award for Africentric practice, and annual scholarships for student leadership that benefits African, Caribbean and Black communities. Presentations for these national programs will begin in February 2027.

Student bursaries will be awarded to several NSCSW members who attend accredited social work programs in the fall of 2026. College bursaries are awarded based on the student’s commitment to professional social work practice.

Sep 30 – Nov 25 — An intensive course about Bowen family systems theory. Multi-week commitment, limited to 12 participants. Facilitated by Jim Morton and Anne Pirie.

Sep 24, 2026 — Learn about & integrate strategies that challenge, disrupt, and unsettle coercive control in helping & healing practices. This 2-hour virtual session is an interactive workshop, and will not be recorded for later viewing.

Aug 14, 2026 — In June 2022, the Nova Scotia College of Social Workers (NSCSW) received letters of complaint regarding the conduct of registrant Philip Patey, of Halifax Nova Scotia, registration #2335. NSCSW imposed interim restrictions on Mr. Patey’s registration during the investigation, and later suspended it as the result of a discipline hearing held on February 9, 2026.

We encourage our members to review decision information, to gain insight into the reasons for decisions and the College’s discipline process. It is important for all social workers in Nova Scotia to understand the College’s role in ensuring that Nova Scotians can rely on professional, ethical social work practice.

Oct 8, 2026 — Closed space for Mi’kmaw and other Indigenous social workers to talk ethics & practice issues, and build connections for safe(r) social work. This virtual gathering was originally scheduled for Sep 10, and is the final event in this series for 2026.

Oct 9, 2026 — Social workers in Nova Scotia are invited to join your colleagues from across the province to connect, network, organize & share resources. Open to all members at any career stage, from students to retired associates. This virtual gathering was originally scheduled for Aug 28, and is the final event in this series for 2026.

June 18, 2026 — As International Pride Month kicks off a season of Pride celebrations across the region, NSCSW calls on social workers to advocate for and promote social justice and joy for 2SLGBTQIA+ people and social workers.
