Call for submissions to our 2026 conference

Navigating complexity together

We are inviting proposals from our social work community for our annual conference on May 28 & 29, 2026. This conference will be held in-person at the Black Cultural Centre for Nova Scotia in Dartmouth.

The two-day conference is focused on supporting the development, connections, learning, and growth of Nova Scotian social workers in navigating complexity in practice as we wrestle with the existential issues of our time. The conference will also be an opportunity to reflect on 10 years of NSCSW operating as the regulatory body for social workers in Nova Scotia.

Our venue does not have suitable rooms available for multiple concurrent sessions, although the hall is spacious enough for breakout groups within the same room; submissions should therefore be for session formats suitable for a large group sharing a single space (e.g. keynote address, panel discussion, research presentation, workshop).

Deadline for conference submissions is December 3rd, 2025 at 11:59 pm. Priority will be given to presenters and speakers who are registered as social workers with the NSCSW. We anticipate reaching out to potential collaborators in early January 2026.

If you need any support with this process, please reach out to Tyler Colbourne, Professional Development Consultant with NSCSW, at [email protected]

In early 2026 we’ll be able to share more information for members who need to make a pitch to their employers for time and resources to support their participation. In the meantime, please add the conference dates to your calendar; we hope to see you there!
