Private practitioners are self-employed RSWs who are licensed to practice independently in one or more areas of specialization.

Notice: Social Workers Issuing Sick Notes

Aug 29, 2023 — Legislation has granted social workers in Nova Scotia the ability to write sick notes, as long as they are providing care within their regulated scope of practice.

Revisions to the clinical scope proposal

May 5, 2022 — The clinical committee has revised their proposal that will be discussed at next week’s SGM, in accordance with legal advice received by the College and member feedback during consultations.
