July 15, 2021 − Our goal is that this paper generates a process of critical self-reflection that allows Nova Scotians to create space for new approaches to child welfare. We need a new way of thinking about child and family well-being. It is our hope that this paper will spark discussion and action towards this goal.
July 13, 2021 − Social workers and community organizations such as the Halifax Mutual Aid Society are having to scramble to try to provide support, at a time when resources are shrinking. While the provincial government recently pledged to provide 25 million dollars in funding, at some point in the future, these promises are of no help to those struggling with homelessness right now.
28 Jun, 2020 − To accommodate and to encourage personal self-care and reflection, and as well as to maintain safety in our practice, the Board of Examiners and Council of the College are temporarily amending the Professional Development Requirements policy for 2021.
April 19, 2021 − The NSCSW has recently gone through a comprehensive review of our staff organization, and made several changes to attend to our mandate in the Social Workers Act and our five year strategic plan. Alec introduces members to two new people on our staff team, and new roles for existing staff.
We’re partnering with CASW to offer a bursary to help members join the upcoming 2021 NSCSW virtual conference: Challenging our Social Justice Lens. Apply before April 23.
The NSCSW is calling on members to put forward resolutions and by-law changes for the 2021 Annual General Meeting. Please submit all proposals for change by April 19, 2021.
