July 4, 2022 — The purpose of this project is to complete a comprehensive evaluation of the NSCSW’s 5 year strategic plan and use this insight as benchmark to generate a renewed strategic vision. Bids should by submitted no later than August 19.

June 13, 2022 — We’re collaborating with Wisdom2Action to develop a policy paper on the improvements needed for Nova Scotia’s child welfare system. If you have experience with this system, please consider filling out a survey to help guide our efforts.

February 24, 2022 — Every year during National Social Work Month, we are proud to celebrate our members and increase our advocacy on their behalf. This year’s theme is: In Critical Demand, Social Workers are Essential. The growing need for social workers has never been more evident.

15 December, 2021 — We’re seeking proposals for new professional development opportunities that will be delivered to members of the Nova Scotia College of Social Workers in 2022. Proposals for 2022 are encouraged to be structured in such a way that the presentation be delivered live over Zoom, with the ability to be recorded, so that members can access the content electronically.

December 2, 2021 — The theme for next year’s conference is “Social Work Leading Transformational Change in 2022.” We’re inviting presentation proposals for social workers to share their knowledge about transformational leadership in the context of our profession. The deadline for submissions has been extended to January 21, 2022.

Dec 2, 2021 — This summer, a committee of hard-working social workers, serving on the ad-hoc professional development standards working group, put together a proposal to transform our professional development standards. These changes were approved by Council in November 2021 and will take effect in January 2022.

November 18, 2021 — In our spring evaluation of our strategic plan members indicated that they would like the College to foster a more positive image of the profession. The Social Workers Act states that the NSCSW shall, in the public interest, advance and promote the practice of social work.
